Lockdown Practice
We held a very successful practice for our updated Lockdown Procedures last Thursday afternoon. Chief Reed and officers and school administrators from two other towns participated. The students were awesome and all staff followed the procedures accurately. The chief and the other participants were very pleased. We will have another unannounced practice this spring. In addition, we will practice a few fire drills.

Word of the Week Challenge
WORD OF THE WEEK and WEEKLY MATH CHALLENGE!
Our second and third graders are leading the way with their research and work each week on the designated word. Teachers in all grades are talking about these words and encouraging students to show what they know about the new word. All students' work is displayed outside my office each week. Stop by and take a look!
Thanks to the curiosity of our students, the Weekly Math Challenge is off and running! Questions are offered for 3 different age groups with everyone welcome to try any or all of them! Generally these are being done at school during times suggested by their teachers. They are not homework assignments or required- just for a fun challenge for those who would like to give it a try. My goal is to encourage students to push themselves to try problems that they may not be sure about and to use their good math brains and give it a try!
Here is the link to the investigation sheet. The words we have investigated so far have been:
Empathy
Pungent
Industrious
Humorous
Compromise
Persuade
Festive
Glisten
Perseverance
Collaborate
Hectic
Versitile
