School Life — Day-to-Day Information

In this section you will find information about the day-to-day needs of school life.

Master Schedule

Newfields Elementary School's Master Schedule —  The NES Master Schedule has an emphasis on team planning time. Teachers have four blocks of 45 minutes each a week to collaboratively plan with their grade level teammates. Teachers and teams will bring children out for morning recess flexibly as their unique schedules allow. We have set aside time for school wide Morning Meeting and Closing Circle activities consistent with the Responsive Classroom initiative. Also, Wednesdays have been reserved for our field trips, assemblies, enrichment activities, and an “All-School Play.” The All-School Play is an opportunity for the entire school community to go outside and engage in meaningful social learning through organized play activities.

Lunch Service

With the help of a dedicated staff, we now serve the most appealing and nutritious food the school has known for some time—and still for only $1.75 a meal!  Milk ($.25), juice ($.25), and snacks ($.50) are available in the MPR at mid-morning, and again at lunch time. Parents can purchase a lunch ticket for $28 (good for 16 meals) that will be kept at the lunch service area and “punched” with each meal purchased by the student.  The NES lunch service offers lunch four days a week (no lunch served on Fridays).  In addition, students may purchase a pizza lunch that is offered by the NPO on Fridays.  The lunch menu can be found on this site by clicking the calendar link above.
